Dora’s ~ about us…
For those of you who don’t know us, Dora was my Grandma.. her eclectic and magpie like unique country style, was and still remains the inspiration for our brand.
We at Dora’s love hunting for new and vibrant accessories for your home, garden, children and lifestyle… and are constantly evolving our signature style of ‘bright and beautiful living’.
Launched in 2006, our store and offices are based in Historic Arundel, West Sussex ~ in the town’s old telephone exchange. With a broad fan base - young and old, all with a common love of bright, beautiful things... this year we have been proud to launch our fully transactional website www.dorashome.com, and our first catalogue.
Our collection…
Our products are sourced from primarily UK suppliers of quality home and garden ware. We also stock local items from the array of painters, artists and artisans that can be found in the local area …and Jacqui has also designed a range of unique and naïve artworks for childrens rooms. She has also taken commissions for her local Arundel artworks.
Our collection of heritage childrens traditional and innovative toys are sourced from the UK and mainland Europe, and are all beautifully designed and crafted, promoting longevity of the toys life and inspiring young creative minds.
Green & Gorgeous…
In honour of Dora (who was passionate about the great outdoors and her allotment!), we also pride ourselves in our ‘green conscience’. Our ‘Green & Gorgeous’ ranges include wildlife homes sourced with FSC approval as well as being organic solutions for the modern gardener. Success has meant this range has been expanded into our home area, with our own organic shoppers and eco solutions for the kitchen and scullery.
In December 2007 Arundel became the third ‘plastic bag free’ town in the UK – of which Dora’s is a key sponsor. Our best sellers include handmade recycled bags from donated old curtains.. made by local women.. and our own hand printed bags we make in house.
We also stock a collection of fair trade items – supporting Arundel’s status as a Fairtrade town.
The future...
The success of our carefully sourced traditional but unusual childrens toys and gifts – has fuelled the launch of a standalone DINKY DORA store, which will include childrens clothing to support the toy offer.
We will also launch our own range of UK made home wares in late 2008.
Founder…
Jacqui Pearce spent 12 years in the Fashion industry as a buying executive for young fashion and lifestyle brands. In 2004 she broke out on her own to freelance as a product and trend consultant for premium brands and media companies including the BBC.
She moved to Arundel from London in 2003, and with her partner Gareth has a 2 year old daughter Liberty and a 1month old son Finlay…
They inspired her to stop travelling so much and fulfil her dream of creating a more home based business and building her own brand …
Dora’s was born.
We hope you love it as much as we do,
